Kevin Gascoyne: Tea and Terroir

June 15, 2025 at 12:30:00 PM

English

Renowned tea taster Kevin Gascoyne (Camellia Sinensis, Montreal) delves into the mysteries of tea terroir: what are the elements of the growing environment that give each tea its unique identity?

"Each origin has its own unique combination of meteorological, geographical, and geological characteristics, which distinguish it from all others. These variables directly influence the plant's development and generate physical and chemical markers, thus becoming the signatures of our single-origin teas."

Originally from the United Kingdom, Kevin Gascoyne has been exploring Asian tea gardens for over 30 years. A recognized expert on single-origin tea, he is a partner at Camellia Sinensis in Montreal and the author of several reference books on tea.
